Developing internal QA mechanisms - Towards an East African Quality Assurance framework

The expansion of higher education in East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi) while contributing to national, regional and global development goals has raised concerns over the issue of quality. To address this, the national regulatory agencies of Kenya (CHE), Tanzania (TCU) and Uganda (NCHE) in collaboration with the Inter-University Council for East Africa UCEA), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the German Rectors’ Conference (HRK) and the University of Oldenburg have started a collaboration to develop and pilot an East African QA framework.
